The Great Priory of the United Religious, Military and Masonic Orders
of the Temple and of St. John of Jerusalem, Palestine, Rhodes and Malta
of Greece and its Provinces Overseas

Welcome to the Official Site of Great Priory of Greece

The military cavalry orders were Christian groups and then communities of knights. Their creation occurred during the Middle Ages and the first Crusade with the aim of protecting the Holy Land, the Crusader States and the Iberian Peninsula from Muslim invaders.
The Order of the Temple was founded in 1119 AD at Jerusalem after its liberation from the Saracen rule, nineteen years earlier. The successes of the Crusaders had brought Pilgrims to the Holy Land from all over Christendom. Rich and poor, noble and peasants who were overwhelmed by religious enthusiasm walked through inhospitable countries to visit and worship the holy places where our Savior lived and sacrificed.                                            Great Priory of Greece is the official Priory of the United Religious, Military and Masonic Orders of the Temple and of St. John of Jerusalem, Palestine, Rhodes and Malta of Greece and its Provinces Overseas.

Message of the Grand Master, Andreas Spyropoulos GCT

Despite its long history and in the midst of adverse conditions, the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon and the Hospitallers of St. John, has survived through the centuries and today still exists and upholds the same timeless values.

Perhaps the tales of grails and secrets that have disappeared into the fabric of time and protected by noble Knights, are popular because these are the very attributes that we need more than ever in our modern age.

Especially these days where Peace is disturbed, we can find inspiration and guidance in the past.

The concept of giving one’s oath, swearing to adhere to a vow given, regardless of the efforts involved, is a direct result of the strength of purpose of the Knights.

The Great Priory of Greece had the honor to host the 12th International Synod in the medieval island of Rhodes and the great success of the event, fill us with greater ambitions and expectations.

I wish you all, health, peace and happiness.
